Hi, my name is Ben. In this video, we're going to talk about snacks in very simple English. These videos are meant for people that understand very little English. You're still learning. I'm going to speak slowly, I'm going to use things in the real world, and I'm going to draw things. I'm going to write, I'm going to draw, right? This video is for you. All you should do is listen to what I say and try to understand. All right, let's talk about snacks. What are snacks? Well, snacks are food, things that you eat, right? Snacks are food, but they're like small little bits of food, only a little bit, right? When we talk about food, it's everything. Right so anything that you can eat anything that you're able to eat is food right so a hamburger is food. Right hamburger what else is food a salad. um for any kind of fruit right so mango that's mago mang mango mango is also a food or fruit um or these nuts nuts are also food But snacks are a smaller type of food, right? During the day, during the day, right? So in the morning, you might start by having breakfast, right? In the morning, you might have your first meal, which is breakfast. Breakfast, right? That's breakfast is how you spell it. So maybe you have some eggs, right? And then there's a yolk in the middle. Here's an egg you might have. What else might you have in the morning? Some bacon, you could have some strips of bacon, right? Bacon and eggs is very famous. You might have pancakes, lots of different breakfast foods. In the afternoon, the sun is out. In the afternoon, you might have lunch. That's your second meal. You can have a lot of different things for lunch. Hundreds of thousands of options to have lunch. And then dinner is when the sun sets, right? So this is rising, and then this is setting. The sun is setting, going down, and that's dinner. Right, but where are snacks? What about snacks? Snack is any time in between, right? Like when you're sort of not eating a meal, right? These are called meals. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are meals. Anything that's not a meal is a snack. Anything that's not a meal is a snack, basically. And so, I want to show you my favorite snacks. These are my favorite snacks that I eat relatively often. I have a lot of nuts, like I said, nuts. These are called cashews, cashew nuts. These are macadamia nuts, if you can see these, macadamia nuts. Those are really good, I like these a lot. They're a little bit expensive, but not too bad. Here are almonds. Let me see. That's kind of hard to see. There we go. That's an almond. There you go. That's a nice shot of an almond. Let's see. What else do I have here? I have some peanuts. Peanuts are, there's lots of different ways to eat peanuts. These are regular peanuts, just peanuts, no shell. The shell is the outside part, right? So if I draw peanuts, Right, this is a peanut. The inside, so what's in here, that's the nut, that's this. The inside is the nut, the shell is the outside, right, this part outside the nut that covers it. These peanuts have no shell. They're just the peanuts. I also have some candied peanuts. They're candied, that's a great word. So it's not candy, It's candied, so candied peanuts, peanuts. Those are these. That means there's sugar on the outside. So if I, so here is, ah, my peanut. So here is a candied peanut, if you can see. There we go. And if I break open the sugar, on the outside, there it is, you see that inside the peanut there is, or inside the candy, there is a peanut, right? And so a candied peanut has sugar on the outside and peanut on the inside. And they're delicious. They're very yummy. I like them a lot. And the last snack that I have here are fried plantains or fried banana. These are banana but they've been fried in oil and they become fried plantains or fried bananas. So, those are all of my favorite snacks. I like to eat nuts and things like that because they tend to be a little bit healthier. Right? Healthier is something that's very important because it's better for your body, better for you. Because a lot of snacks are not very healthy or very unhealthy. Sorry, that peanut made me thirsty. That peanut made me thirsty, so I had some water. All right, but there are many more kinds of snacks in the world. There are hundreds of thousands of different snacks, right? Thousands of snacks. You might like, for example, potato chips. I'm sure you've had potato chips. Those come in a bag. The bag usually is crinkly and inside are Potato chips, right? So, there's like the Lay's brand, right? Lay's or Sabritas is a popular brand. Those are potato chips. They're like little, no, not like that. They're like little discs. Yeah, they're sort of like circles, like that. and they're very crispy, very crunchy. They're very, very delicious. They have lots of salt, usually. This is salt. Lots of salt on them and oil, like I mentioned before. I don't really have a good way to draw oil, but I have my oil in a little squeeze bottle in my kitchen. Bottle like this and this is oil for me Oil so this is all in here. It's sort of like a If you use olive oil, it's sort of like a this color. Yeah, there we go. That looks sort of like oil oil No, my oil. There it is. Okay. That's oil. Um, so chips have lots of salt and oil, or I like to have them with, um, some chili, some pepper. Um, so that they're spicy, a little bit spicy. So here's our, here's our chili. Hey, I wanted that to be green. There we go. Green. So that's our chili pepper. And so I like my potato chips to have chili on them or pepper. What are some other good snacks? Ooh, a snack I had today is not a typical snack. It's not the most common snack, but it was some yogurt. Yogurt came in a little thing like this, a little package. Let's see, let me draw this package there. There we go. And so yogurt is a T at the end. It comes from milk, right? So let's draw a milk thing. right from from a cow and then milk right this is milk turns into yogurt through a whole process, right? And then into the yogurt, actually, let's move this down. This is very high up on the page. Let's move this to the middle here. There we go. Let's make it a little bigger too. Can I? I can. There we go. A little bit bigger. Perfect. And so inside the yogurt, in the yogurt, you can put berries. So maybe a strawberry. There's a little strawberry. Give it a little green stem, some leaves, perfect. You can put some fruit or a little some blueberries. Those are very light blueberries. Let's do some darker ones. Some blueberries can go inside, right? Blackberries are delicious in yogurt, right? So blackberries are sort of like these bigger berries. That's sort of like a blackberry. And you can put all of those into yogurt to make them have more flavor. Because yogurt doesn't have a ton of special flavor. And so it's nice to add in some berries into your yogurt. I also like to add honey to my yogurt. So let's see, a little jar here. Let's draw this jar of honey. And then on the inside, we have a lovely golden, there we go, nice honey color. No, I don't like that color. Let's do a better color for honey. Let's do this one. Yeah, there we go. So honey, it's a very delicious thing to put inside your yogurt because it tastes like honey. It's sweet. So honey, there we go. So I like to put honey in my yogurt with maybe some fruit and that is also a lovely snack. Very, very good snack. But like I said, there are so many different snacks in the world. And so I want to know what snacks you like. What are your favorite kinds of snacks? What snacks do you eat every day? Do you like cashews or almonds or macadamia nuts?
