Hey everybody, it is wonderful to see you again. I am back recording another episode of this Papers, Please series. And today, although you can't see it, I'm trying with a new microphone. Can you keep it in? Move. I have a new microphone. I've got some new stuff behind me that I'm trying. It's actually for my real job, but might as well use it here, right? It looks pretty good. I hope it sounds okay. I don't... Think I need to change anything, but we're gonna see we're gonna get into this this game here because we're on episode 8 I think Of this playthrough of papers, please yeah, we're on 8 because we're gonna do days 15 and 16 right now So if you remember, we have a lot of craziness going on. We were gifted a thousand credits, and then it was all taken away from us. We moved again. There's just more craziness happening. It's an absolute, it's a very interesting game. We have 90 credits right now, and we're going into day 15, which is titled Breakthrough Spinal Surgery Perfected. Is what it says which is an interesting headline which will break down. So breakthrough is when something is big and new and it's a big discovery because there was something in the way before right so. a breakthrough discovery in, I don't know, like curing cancer, right? Something like that where it's really, really hard to make progress in these things because there's certain things that we just don't know. So in the case of spinal surgery, your spine is your back, right? That bone thing that goes down your back. And surgery is very delicate work fixing somebody's spine. And so they're saying that finally somebody discovered basically how to fix people's spines. It is now a perfect spinal surgery. There's nothing wrong with it. And so then it says, the only possible with Arstotzkan expertise, right? Only thank you to all of the Arstotzkans working in medicine or something like that. But yeah, interesting headline for December 7th, 1982. Which we'll get into. December 7th, 1982. Everybody's walking to work. The odd car going by. Oh! Hello, Inspector. There is a small discrepancy with your finances. The Ministry was thoughtful enough to notify us. It is best you come with me. Well, that's too bad. The Ministry of Income has discovered an anomaly in your earnings. You are under arrest pending a full audit of your recent activities. Your family will likewise be held for questioning. The border will remain open under a new replacement inspector. Glory Dorostotska. Well, this isn't a great way to start the game today. So, looks like we had a bit of an issue. We got a version of the game. We ended it with ending four of twenty. There are twenty different possible endings. That is unfortunate. We're going to have to start again from a different point. Before we had those credits on day 12. So we're going to have to hop into here, I believe. And restart. So this is back on December 3rd. So four days ago. There was a theft. And there was some domestic spying that we learned about. Okay, so now we know a little bit better what's happening, and we can make some different decisions. This is something that happens in this game, by the way, that things, you get bad endings or whatever, and things happen. So, we're going to have to go back a little bit. Okay, so this is that day where the entry permit is being forged. Right? So, here we go. Interrogate. This document is forged. I know nothing about that. Okay. I'm also maybe going to be a little less nice and might just start detaining more people because... Now I want to get through these days more quickly, because I want to get to the interesting ones, right? The future ones. But one thing we have to be aware of is these... I want to look at these names again, because I think that we can try again with Mikael and Stefani. Yeah, Stefani or whatever. Okay. So this guy, Jika Popescu, whatever that name is, that looks like him. What did he say? Visit 14 days, sure. Enter buys in the past though, dude. What are you doing? You can't use an expired document. All right, done, easy peasy, lemon squeezy. We're gonna we're gonna blow through these days. We're gonna get so many people Okay, where is your where's your document? Passport please Password is required. Okay. Thank you, sir. That looks like you. That looks like you. That's all good. Milkovich. Very strange name. Milkovich. Immigrate forever. It looks good to me. I might be wrong, but I think that there's usually like one potential issue with, um, People's passports and if you find that one issue and they solve it then it's gonna be okay Okay, so this is when he bone he doesn't give me the full bonus Because his wife is sick We want to help him because we have enough money in this In this place, which is good for us, but obviously he's having a little bit of trouble So, okay. Yeah, we'll help you out dude. Don't worry about it. I Next, please. All right, let's keep going here. Let's see, this very round looking person. Halle Liu. Liu Halle, Halle Liu, okay, number matches up. Work, six months, or a few months. Sure, that's three. Enterprise in the future, that's three months. Construction, that's the right symbol. Hi, hi, Han, import, look, expires in the future, date of birth in the past. That all is looking good. I think, I don't see any issues. Cause no trouble, please, Hallie. We'll see if I start kind of making more errors, more issues as I'm trying to go a little faster here. Oh. Oh, this is, oh, this is the guy. This is the guy. This is the guy. Ha ha ha ha. Look, look, look, look, look, look, look. Mikhail Saratov. Mikhail Saratov. There you go. I did it. The order rises. I'm letting him in. So this guy is wrong. Ha ha. Missing entry permit because he didn't have, yeah, he didn't have an entry permit. All right. Transit to Arstotzka. Entry permit doesn't have a stamp on it. Nope, that's the wrong thing. Documents, entry permit. This thing doesn't have one of those. Discrepancy detected. This document is missing its seal. I don't know anything about that. Well, either there's a complete failure in our system or, well, there probably is a complete failure in our system, so it's probably not your fault, but this guy's wife is sick and he needs a little bit of extra money, which he gets by being cruel to you, which is unfortunate. All right, Janes Hector. What a name. Love that name. Janes Hector. Date of birth is different. Why do your birth dates not match? Yeah, I don't know. Again, I just kind of feel bad about just detaining people willy-nilly left and right. That's sort of all I can do to protect the people that are working here, and... I hope that they get through things. So, alright. Ciao, Henry. Henry, ciao. Benry, ciao. Who's Benry? So I'm going to have to get the fingerprint thing. There it is. Fingerprint, multiple names. Benry Chow, six months. Henry Chow, Benry Chow. OK, looks good. Henry Chow, Benry Chow. Interesting difference. Maybe in the language spoken in Kolechia, Benry and Henry are minimal pairs. Benry Chow research. A minimal pair, by the way, is any two words that different... Sorry, not a minimal pair. That's not the word I mean. Allophones. A B and H are allophones. Allophones are words that... Or, sorry, sounds. I'm trying to speak and do the game at the same time. Allophones are sounds that are the same to speakers of a language, even if they might not be the same sound. For example, in English, the word pie and the word spy use different P sounds. There's puh and there's buh, spy, pie, but they are, so they're literally different sounds, but we use them, we hear them the same. English speakers don't hear a difference between them. We use a difference between them. We don't hear a difference between them I think this is all good. I think I recognize this pass. I don't see anything wrong with anything here Gordist city United Federation That looks good I guess I can check the seals of his work pass. Yeah, that looks like that one. Yep. That's fine Okay Okay, number matches, that matches, enter by in the future, that all matches, yeah. I think you're good, sir. So, cause no trouble. But yeah, Henry and Benry might be the same pronunciation in their language, is my point. Oscar Navarro, 1952, 1952, 168 centimeters, 78 kilograms. East Grestin, sure, expires in the future. Looks good, Oscar. Glory Dvortsovska. That was very loud. Okay. Strange man brought money. Uncheck to burn it. I'm gonna burn the money this time. I don't want your money. But I will upgrade my booth. Why not? We have money from the easy mode crutch we're doing. Okay. We're getting some extra cash from... We're getting some extra cash from... The detentions. Jeez, okay. Detaining people. Whoa. Grestin Metro halted. Okay, so we're not something's changed. This is different. So This is the ASIC sticker ASIC sticker stamp, right? That's their that's their thing and it says the Grestin Metro has been halted and Paltice to stop or to slow. And so the metro, the train under the city is not working in Dresden, the city. Tunnel cave in hints at sabotage. So they caved in. So if you have like an underground room or tunnel and it caves in, it folds like that, that's caving in. And it hints at sabotage, which is sort of saying that okay, this was a thing done on purpose Not something that was an accident, right? So it's it hints at sabotage, which is somebody decided to do that possibly Ezek, they're causing trouble now Which is interesting. I hope that they're causing good kinds of trouble maybe And then we have down here the history of Arstotzka in pictures and words mostly words We already saw this one But already things are changing now. So let's go to December 4th, 1982. The game is already a little bit different than it was. Uh, this guy's still scary. Are you healthy today? Yes. I have a few questions for you. Yep. Hello, sir. It was a problem at the Metro last night. Maybe you read about it in the paper. I did read it. The message is very big news. We think it is not an accident. We think it is caused by a suspicious group. What suspicious group? We think some members might pass at this checkpoint, so we come to talk to you. Have you seen anything like this? No. No, never seen anything like that. Of course I'd give you information. Of course, of course. But I know nothing. I know nothing about this. There you go. Take your stuff. Take your badge and your paper. This group is very dangerous, he says. If you see anything curious, report it immediately. Will do. Or won't. Anyways, let's get to the... Do I have to do anything today? I don't think so. Okay. All right, Alexa. I have to keep going. I gotta just keep playing the game, I guess. Visiting relatives, a couple months, visit two months, enter by in the future, number matches up. That looks good, that looks good. Kolechia, Vedor, that's in the future. This is looking okay. So I don't see any issues with this person's documents. So I guess we'll just keep going. All right, we're doing okay. We're doing better than last time. I think I was failing so many last time. Oberstan, only to visit. Oystein Magnelli, what an interesting name. Only to visit two months, two weeks. Hang on, hang on, hang on, hang on, hang on. What is this, good sir? The length of your stay is different, 60 days. Oh, okay. But you can't enter by this time. You can enter with an expired document. I'm sorry, sir, but you cannot come in. Your document is expired. I'm already gonna get... I was already captured once today in a different life. Hello, mess-off. How are you? You are a local. 84 centimeters, 90 kilograms, you're wearing glasses. Vesilo district, urveg vonor. Mail nice unit of the the the the the looks okay, I guess I can check the districts Regional map Arstotzka, which is he's from Veselio, ooh That's spelled the same VES ci ll. Oh yep, that's right All right, I see no problems there you go have a good you see many people yes, oh, it's this guy It's the engineer guy Sure, I'll give up come back in a few days give you five credits for each engine that calls me All right Now we don't we don't need the money from Will beats gov pay contact now cool I 14 days, just passing through. Enter buys in the future, transit, number of matches. Bra, Brabu, Brabu, Sharmila, Sharmila Brabu. Great Rampage of 1933, 1984, in the future. Again, looks good to me. I feel like somebody needs to have bad documents. I need to make some kind of mistake, but nothing's changing or nothing's changing. Nothing's suspicious right now. Powdorobits. I made a couple of days, just transit, okay. This doesn't... Yeah, okay, sufficiency, yeah, sure, lady. Trying to distract me because you have different numbers. Yeah, yeah, you have forged documents. You are like this plaque, cheap shit. This is a plaque, by the way. My recognition of sufficiency. So thank you very much for your vote of confidence, lady. Pow, if that's your real name. But you are now gone. OK, visiting friends for a few weeks. That's a month. That's that. Brown, there is a. But I won't okay. Is that that's the right seal? I think right, isn't it? Docs diplomatic. Nope. I keep going to that one docs Entry permit. Yeah, that's the right one Exploration is in the future enters in the future. I Don't see any problems with that. So have a nice rest of your day cause no trouble Oh, non-matching photo. I thought that looked like her. All right, whatever. Engineering, let's go. Take a badge. uh... work one-year uh... enter by in the future but a month in the future purpose work numbers matches ali mother either ali mother is until for a year to the uh... as in the future school woman number matches i think we're good equally of our first engineer Again, I'm not sure but I think that engineers can just go through I think the game makes them correct on purpose Visiting friends Three months, okay. Lorndaz, enter in the future, numbers match. Matt Ohlendorf, that's enter buys in the future as well. So this document looks all good. This one also looks good. Lorndaz, I'm nearly positive is Oberstdahn. Lorndaz, yep. All right. I guess you can go through. Yeah, go ahead. Oh, okay. Jeez, this game is kind of stressful. I keep feeling like somebody's gonna commit a crime or explode or something. Okay, different, no, names are the same. That's just a G and Y. Melina, Basilio District. Oh, okay, well, speaking of bombs, this is the guy that blows up, apparently. Great, well, that's the end of day number... 13? 12. We finished day 12 again, but now things are changing. We don't have the money, and we don't wanna... $2,000? I think we're gonna be okay without that. We already had a big problem with money before, so I think we should just not take the money. We're not gonna move. We don't need rent to be more expensive. Although, maybe we will move. I mean, I've been making a lot of extra money with this easy mode crutch. So it might be interesting to move and see what happens. So we'll start with that and we'll continue with it. But that's everything for this episode. I hope that you enjoyed. I hope the audio is okay because I can't record this again. It already happened. And I really hope that it doesn't mess things up. That is everything from me today and I will see you again in another episode in a few days time. So have a great rest of your afternoon, morning or evening and I'll see you then. Bye.
