Papers, Please
Episode 6
intermediate
Hello, all of you English learners out there. We are here again playing Papers, Please for I think the sixth time, fifth time, something like that. I think it's the sixth. Actually, we can see because I've been doing two days per day. So that means, yeah, this is episode six. There we go. We're on number 11, which means that we've had 10 in the past, which is five. So we're going to keep playing here and see what happens because some interesting things have been starting to go on. We're on day 11. So Antegria domestic spying. We have plenty of money right now. We're doing okay there. Our entire family is doing fine. They're all alive. We even have some tokens from small quests we filled out. So let's see what we discover today, what words we learn. So we're starting by with the word domestic, although we'll get to this whole thing. So first, it is the December 3rd in 1982. Antegria domestic spying exposed. Whistleblower on the run. So Antegria is a country in this, Antegria. Antegria, yeah, okay. Domestic is within your home. So home or like, yeah, no, there's another route there. Yeah, basically it's your home country, essentially. So like in the U.S., domestic trade is between states, but like foreign trade is the opposite, right? Domestic, inside your country, foreign. National, international. So spying, which means that they were spying on themselves, right? So they were domestically spying on their own government, their own people, and it was exposed. It was shown to the world, to the rest of the people, and they now know. The whistleblower is the person who told everybody else, the person that did the exposing, because they took their imaginary whistle and went, and blew the whistle, said, hey everybody, look at this. So a whistleblower is a pretty common term, especially in the corporate world for when somebody says, they knew about this and they didn't tell you. I am telling you. They're going to get mad at me. So I am on the run. I'm running away from Antegria. And the other thing down here is that there's a theft at the Ministry of Admission, which is saying that some things were stolen. When theft is when something is stolen or taken without being allowed to. However, they say that only a few items were stolen, right? So there's limited effects, but there was something that was stolen. So I wonder how that's going to affect our day today. December 3rd, 1982. Walking to work. Here we see all of the guards coming in. And oh yeah, we have this secret thing from Ezek. And we have to, we're supposed to let through Stephen Grier, Grieri and Mikhail, Mikhail Staratov, Staratov, Saratov, Saratov, Saratov, whatever it is. And then we get our bulletin here. Inspector, a break-in at the Ministry of Admission. Officers may have compromised our documents, stealing plates. Sorry, may have compromised our document sealing plates. Not stealing. They stole the sealing plates. So a sealing plate is for like a stamp, right? If you're gonna on something. And so these, this is a seal down here. And so there might be some forgeries. We'll come back in a second. Nothing important was stolen, but intelligence suggests counterfeiters, so people that make fake documents, have already become begun forging official Arstotzkan documents. So they've already become making fake official documents because they have the information now. They know how. And so, forgeries, double check that required documents contain valid seals. Correlate missing or wrong seals against the appropriate entries in the documents chapter of your rule book. Glory to Arstotzka. Documents, entry permit, work pass, ID card. One of these. Yeah, so these are the seals we have to check. These are the valid seals to make sure that they're the correct ones so that we don't get fake people or fake documents coming in. All right, let's see what the first person had to say. Papers, please. What is the purpose of your trip? I'm visiting relatives. Duration of stay, 12 weeks, which is three months, okay. Enter by, that's in the future. Expiration is also in the future. Yurko City, Kolechia, regional map, Kolechia, Yurko City, that looks good. Although we should start checking lots of seals and stuff. Oh, already, I don't know if I recognize that X in the middle. Documents, entry permit. That's not the same. There we go. Let's double check that. Discrepancy detected. This is a forgery. I don't understand, he says. So forging documents, but did he necessarily do it or did somebody do it to him? Did they sell him a fake document I kind of feel bad about detaining people because like, I don't think he committed like a crime. I think he was just sold fake documents. He just wanted to visit his family, I think. Anyways, papers please. My presence was requested. Oh, okay. Let's double check that you really are a diplomat. Diplomatic Authentication. Oh, I just have to be from the SEAL, right? Okay, so Obristan, Arstotzka. So Regional Map, Obristan. That is their Diplomatic SEAL, that is correct. Lorndaz, that looks correct as well. Let's see, okay. Different name though, so let's double check that. Mr. Joel Ellington, or should I say, Haykkela. So let's get your fingerprints. figure things out there, those numbers look the same. Okay, so he's got the same, he's got a name there, and that seems to be him. Okay, that looks pretty good. Dated births in the past, Lauren does. That looks like him, that's in the future exploration. All right, I think we're good. Joel, with two names. Next, let's see, papers please. What is the purpose of your trip? I pass through. So just transit, staying a couple of days, right? Enter by is in the future. Her passport matches. Is that one of the, it doesn't look as round as the other ones. So let's just double check that seal. Entry permit. Is that the same? It is not the same. This document is forged. I do not understand. Again, I don't really think she did anything wrong. I don't think it's her fault. Oh, uh-oh. What does this guy want? Good morning, he says. You detained four people. Yep. Bonus is good, they pay okay. Oh, this is not enough. Yes, I know. My wife is sick now, neighbor spreads the flu. This is what is left after medicine. I give you rest next time. Maybe you detain more people to make it easier. Okay, so now his wife is sick and he needs me to detain people because he doesn't... What am I supposed to do? Do I detain more people or do I not? Oh my God, what is... No, wait, that one looks like you, but that is not a very good picture in that small of a format. You say it's you. All right, let's double check if it's you. Meanwhile, I'll double check ID card stuff. Let's see. So, Gorga, Lore of Venom, it's okay. That is Gorga, Lorenovitz. Where's my, where's that? Okay. Let's see. 59 kilograms, 177. Date of birth, 2846. Yep. Aspires in the future. Okay. It is from Letinforma district. That looks correct. Is there a seal on these? No. So, actually, it looks like she's fine. Although, I don't remember where... Ah-ha! Oh, no. Orvech Vonor. Orvech Vonor. Um, alright. Gorga. Ogaga. Whatever your name is. Fine to me. I guess. Oh, don't give her that. That is not what I wanted to do. Oh, shoot. I've... Forget about... Steven and... Um, Mikael. So yeah, do I detain more people? I guess I... I think I will have to detain... I don't know, because he's on my team, he works with me. But you don't have an entry permit, my good sir. I'm, okay, well if you don't have your entry permit, I can't. Oh no, that was the guy. I didn't even look at his name. That was the order knows, that's Ezek. Oh shoot, I didn't look at his name. Visiting relatives of visit two months. Ah, enter by future, that's fine. Okay, well Hopefully it's I can do better I guess That one looks correct that that seal there. Nope. That's the wrong thing. Go back. Please work entry. Yeah, that's correct Like am I supposed to help the order I guess so right because I They're trying to improve the country and all of us are struggling. So I guess I want them to succeed. So Daniel is not one of their names. Daniel Penofsky. 82, enter by, okay. Expires in the future, Lauren Daz, Obristan. That is one of the entry things. Same, duh, duh, duh, forever. Okay, Daniel, I think you're good to go. Although, next, we'll see. The day's almost over now. It's this guy. First agent was denied, second will come in three days. Do not make the same mistake. Three days? I'm gonna forget again. I'm sorry, dude. I wanted to help. I did. That's too bad. A strange man brought money? Uncheck to burn it. They brought $1,000. uh that's a lot of money what do i do with a thousand credits um i have plenty of money right now um i don't that that's like well that is a huge difference look it's 90 1090 like there's two other numbers at the end there there's two like i think i Should take it. I mean, I've already got a lot of money, might as well. And I'm upgrading my booth. Guess I'll just take the money, right? Anyways, let's do one more day here. December 4th, 1982. In pictures and words, but mostly words. Talking about the history of Arstotzka. And so this must be the history of the country below. And the joke is that it's a newspaper, so they're not really gonna have that many pictures. So it's just mostly words that are written. But no extra information today. All right, December 4th, 1982. Walking to work, all the guards are coming in. Oh, geez. Good morning, Inspector. That guy's scary looking. Are you healthy today? Yes. I just have a few questions for you. We think suspicious group attempts to stir trouble. We think some members entered this checkpoint. We so we come to talk to you. Have you seen anything like this? It is some kind of a symbol for a group. And if you have any information to give to us, yes, yes. Very good. He says, please return my badge and paper. The group is very dangerous, he says. Let me know if you see anything curious or suspicious. Okay, but you're definitely gonna kill me if you do. You are very creepy looking. Okay, well, anyways, let's keep going. One month working, one month? You say three here. The length of your stay is different. Apologies, it will be three months. Okay, you're working for, Oh, right, it's month, day, year. So that, yeah, the fourth month. Oh, duh. I know how months work. Cezec Alexander, Cezec Alexander. That looks good. From Skal, I know that's a place in Obristan. Expires in the future. His picture looks good. This is the right seal, I believe. Can I get into docs? Entry permit. Yep, that looks correct. Alexander works in statistics. A lot of people working in statistics for some reason. All right, Alexander, everything looks good to me. Go ahead and go on in. All right, papers please. Another worker. Coming for a visit? What do you mean, you're coming for a work? Visit? That's not what you're coming for. All right, this is a weird mistake to make. Quinn, Knoxville, Ennio for import, which is on the map. Map, import, Enkio, rather. That is the right permit. Oh, the work permit ones. I have to look at those. Oh, geez. Work pass. That looks, I think that's this one. Yeah, it is. It's just hard to see under the text. So she's working three months. That looks fine. That looks fine. That looks fine. Oh my God, there's so many things to check at this point. But I think you're good, Noxavilla. Cause no trouble, please. Okay, no citation, we're okay so far. Papers, please, sir. Messoff, that's a cool name. Anginovich Messoff, 1947, 816, 183, 89 kilograms.
