Papers, Please
Episode 12
intermediate
Hey, everyone. Welcome back to the 12th episode of this little Papers, Please series we're doing, where I play this game, Papers, Please, and you watch me play it. We've been advancing a good amount recently, which is cool, but we have more to do. And so let's jump into the story mode here. And something I'm trying to remember is that somebody said something about the man in red. I forget exactly what it was, but it was something about, I believe that the man in red can be trusted or something like that. I don't remember who just said it or why it's important, but I remember that. So let's get into this day. I forget what it's December 11th. And it says the import begins trade sanctions. So immediately restricts all imports from Arstotzka. So sanctions are, Essentially, when a government says that another government did something bad, and they are stopping something from being allowed. And so in this case, Impor, the country, says to Arstotzka that Arstotzka is being unfair, and so they're not letting them trade as much stuff, as many goods, and that's a sanction. Sanctions often are you have to pay extra money or you're not allowed to. And often governments will say, okay, I'm not trading with Arstotzka. You guys also shouldn't to like other countries. And so it can be pretty damaging to another country, especially if the initial country is bigger. So we now have trade sanctions on Arstotzka to import, which means that we're restricted. So right away, immediately we've restricted, we've cut off, we've stopped imports from Arstotzka. Imports are goods that go into a country, so an import and export goes away. Right? So Arstotzka exports things that then are imported to import or were not anymore. So anyways, that's what happened in the news today. So let's walk to work on December 11th, 1982. Here's our friend. He's going to come see us today. He's, I forget his name exactly, but hello, sir. Thank you for yesterday, he says. My aim is not like before. Remember there was an attack yesterday and I saved him with my key. Oh, that's it? Yeah, of course. I don't want you to die. Anyways. Inspector, Impor rejects all imported goods from Arstotzka. Under request from the Ministry of Trade and Mission, we will react to this violation. Deny all travelers from Impor. Wow, okay. So they're calling it a violation, which is basically something you're not allowed to do. It's a big problem. It's bad, whatever, whatever. And so they're saying, because they did this to us, we are going to deny all of the travelers from Impor, which is pretty harsh. So yeah, there's nothing else there. Let's go to this side. Here's the wanted criminals list. I guess let's continue. And we have to deny immediately all Imporians. So here's a person. I feel like I've seen this person before. In transit, you're from Impor. So, okay, I think I have to do the thing where I go basic rules, no entry from import, oops, there we go. Send no entry from import, and then I have to deny them with this. Sorry, lady, that sucks, because you didn't do anything. Emporians are prohibited, not allowed. They're prohibited from entering. Prohibited from entering. I also feel like I've seen this guy before. He's also from Impor. Sorry, dude. I can't really do anything. No entry from Impor. Oh, that's my book. There you go. Wow, that sucks. I didn't really want to just deny people all day, but don't really have a choice. Hey, I know you. Are you from Mirsk? I worked with your father for many years. You were such a little brat. Dude. That's never, I was a child. A brat is a child that is being naughty or things like that, doing things wrong or being annoying, right? Map, Arstotzka, East Grestin. Yeah, there it is. Okay, that looks fine. Although, can I do anything about this? Like, can I click on this guy? No. Because he's also from there, I think. Something like that. Well, you can go through, I believe. I go back to Niersk and tell them you are doing well here. Oh, thanks. Okay, she was allowed to go through. I wonder what's wrong with this passport. Anything wrong? No, I did it right. I'm so smart. All right, well this is, oh. Republia transit through. Why do you have a work permit? What? I'm confusing myself. Enterprise in the future requires in the future Boston. Is that in Republia or is that in? I thought Boston Republia, where is that? There it is. No, that's right, Boston. Okay, nevermind. That's fine. She's not wanted. Geez, there's so many things to check. Is this the right, I think that's the right seal. But yeah. All right, well, I think we're good. So many things to check. I'm sure something's wrong. Oh, we're good. Hooray. Let's go. All right. Here's another guy. Oscar Kjell is his name, Altan District, 79 and 169, sure. Date of birth matches, that looks like him. That is not him. Expires in the future. Orvech Vonor is correct. All right, I see no problems with this person. Glory to Arstotzka. His passport looks correct. Looks good now. But did he have to do... I didn't say why. He just says he's... Do I care why he's coming? I'm here again. I come to see you often. Look, I got credits. So yeah, I'm gonna get a citation, because he wasn't allowed to come through. But I got 10 credits. No Emporians, sadly. That's the issue we have here. No entry from Impor. Sorry, um... Halana Itani, or whatever your name is. But, no entry. Um... I don't know, let's see what else happens. Um, another Imporian. We're not letting anybody in, I'm sorry. I'm not really supposed to let you in. Um, Svetlana. which is, that's all I can do. So have a good day, I guess. And we'll come back tomorrow. All right, so day 19. Your son has drawn a picture for you to take to work. Oh, nice. So my son made a picture for me. We have our bribe of 10 credits. We've got plenty of extra money from the easy mode. So we're doing okay. So let's go to sleep. Let's do another day here. All right. So import sanctions end. So they stopped the sanctions over so fast. What happened? Um, so it was very quick. It was one day of sanctions. It's only the 12th now. So let's see what happened with the bulletin. Uh-oh. Uh, our boss is here. Gets out. Um, Arstotzka hero. Papa. That's, that is kind of hang on wall, it says. You know what? Here, I'm putting it up. I'm going to take this off because it might be a bad thing to hang on a wall. Somebody's coming to visit us, but we'll see. Oh, the man in red. It is too early to come all the way out here. The smell of this checkpoint makes me sick. What is the other shit hanging on the wall? Your pay will be docked for violation. They're docking your pay is where they take away. Take away money that you're earning and they're also saying that it's not terrible. I Have an old friend coming through approve her entry. Her name is Shay Pierre Sova. I do not want to hear any trouble of her. Oh Nice ministry of admission recognition for sufficiency To go with my one for sufficiency Great, you know what screw you dude. I'm gonna hang up my kids drawing as well. I There we go. And my soccer poster, because you know what? You can suck it. So let's go suck it. There we go, make these nice and easy. Okay, so I've got to let through Shay now, his somebody. Jeez, corrupt place. And what else did he say? Pray you do not slip further. Oh yeah, because he docked my pay. Don't want to hear any trouble of her. Yeah, don't let it slip any further. Oh, wall is for official plaques only, right? These are plaques. These ones aren't really plaques. Placards or plaques are like official things, basically. Okay. Impor has relented on their faulty policy. Emporians are now permitted entry. The Divisional Authority of East Grestin Operations will visit again today. That was that guy, I think. So yeah, thanks for the heads up. But yeah, I guess I just keep going. I don't really have anything else I can do. Let's see. All right, so we have another Svetlana here. Let's see, so immigrate forever. Yes, she's gonna live with her husband. Enter by in the future. Those numbers match. Svetlana Rekatina, Svetlana Rekatina. Great, that stamp looks correct. Yeah, I think that stamp's right. Okay, long hair, 50 kilograms, 156 centimeters. I think that's right, but she's got so much hair, it's kinda hard to tell. Oh no, okay, she is too tall. Your height is different. What are you talking about? Just gotta double check that you are you. Is this okay? Let's see. Okay, that's her. I guess let's also double check that this is her and this is her. Yep. Okay. That's her. She's just wearing tall shoes or something. And this is in the future. That's all good. Uh, that's also good. There we go, good enough. Okay, that guy's a killer. That's hor... What is this? There's a powder? I have to kill him? A line... Oh, jeez. What is... I have a job here from Marco Gartec. They're asking me to kill a person. I don't know if I wanna kill a person. Okay, you need a worker pass. Where's your worker pass? What? Oh, no, wait, you need a entry permit. Yeah, you need an entry permit. They make me do it. They make me do all these things. I can't just let you in if you don't have the right documents. Oh boy, things are getting crazy. I'm supposed to... This is probably like a poisonous powder. That's wild. Alright, hello Jewel. You look kind of like an elf. Vanderbosch Jewel, born 222, 33. Doesn't really look like a woman. But maybe, we'll see. Are you a woman? Why do you ask? Well, because it says on your passport. 58 kilograms is correct, 170 I think was correct. 58 East Creston, Burnton District. Yep, just a very masculine looking woman. All right, you can go through. I guess. Next please. All right, let's see who this is. Ooh, this is a kind of scary looking guy. Maxime Chastang. I cannot say, maybe a few days, few weeks. Am I supposed to let these people in? No, right? Departments require authorization. And foreigners require an entry permit. Like, you're missing the required papers. I have the right to enter. Give me a visa stamp. No. Like, the last lady was so mean to me. She was like, oh, you can't come. It so lacks borders. This pass means nothing. Fascist, he calls me. Maybe if the first lady was nice to me, I would have let you through. But I also have to let through Shay at some point. Okay, so this is Simos Jensen. He's working for eight weeks. which is two months, eight work, two months, enter by in the future, those numbers match, Simus Jensen, sure, that looks correct. Identity supplement, future, large, you don't have to have a large mustache. Is it good or bad? I just need to make sure that you're you, that's all. 78 kilos, 180. Here are my fingerprints. Discrepancy detected, that is not you. Oh. I'm just gonna give you this. Oops, there you go. There you go, there you go. So many papers, geez. Boy, um, I'm not gonna detain him, but yeah. Here's another lady who looks kind of familiar. Past her small head. Yeah, 14 days, sure. Future, future, 14 days transit, those numbers match. Yana Korhonen, Yana Korhonen, great, small head, 44 kilos, 159 centimeters, looks good to me. Looks good to me. San Marmero, 84, female, 53, looks good to me. I can't see any problems. I don't see you on the wanted list. Let's see if we can do another couple of people pretty quickly here. We're on a good roll. Um, alright. Oh! It's the guy. It's, it's him. It's, it's Eyestone, Eyestone Kaled. So I'm not supposed to let him through, but I'm not supposed to, uh, but I, so I could like just deny him. What is the purpose of your trip? Visit friends. I need a reason. I'm, and I am supposed to murder him. Don't really want to though. I'm not gonna murder him. I don't... Well, he's an assassin. Oh, jeez. What would you do? I guess I just... I guess I... Affix it there? And I deny him? I don't know. Applicant cleared for entry. What's going on? Oh, he's dying? Jesus, I just killed the guy. That was fast. Crazy. Should I have done that? I don't know. I don't know if I should have done that or not. But the day was cut short by a security incident. Somebody died. A fine has been assessed for unofficial wall hangings. So my fine is $20. Which means a fine is what you have to pay if you do something wrong. If it's not too wrong. And we got a little bit of money from Ezek, okay. And a class six apartment is available. So we could go, our rent could go up and our heat could go down. Not by much, so I think I'm gonna stay here. I don't really need that $100 difference. So I think we're just gonna move on to the next day, but that's gonna be in another episode. So if you enjoyed this, make sure to leave a little comment with what you enjoyed, what you learned. But other than that, I will be seeing you in another episode in a few days. So have a good one, and we just killed a guy.
