Hello, everybody. Again, we are playing Papers, Please Still. This is a little series for all of you lovely English learners out there who enjoy watching a bit of a cool game and maybe learning some cool vocabulary, some neat new words. So let's get into it. We've already done this for another nine episodes. I think we're on number 10. Maybe. I don't know. I don't really remember at this point, but we are back where we were when we lost that last time on day 15. And so this should be pretty interesting as we get into some new content. I believe I made a mistake last time not letting through the other person we were supposed to. We'll see what happens. It's a very different timeline that we're now on. So here we are again with this paper about breakthrough spinal surgery, which is where they're doing surgery like a procedure on your spine, on your back, which is very breakthrough, very new, very innovative, and it has been perfected. thanks to Arstotzkan expertise. So let's walk to work and see what happens on December 7th, 1982. There we are, going into our little booth. Okay, we have the wanted criminals again. We have to keep an eye out for them. We still have this, but I'm pretty sure I sent the wrong person away, but let's just double check their names. We're looking for a Stephanie or a Mikael. A Stephanie or a Mikael. Mikael or Stephanie. Those are the names. And we still have one of these engineer cards to give out. But hopefully everything else goes well. We'll see. We'll try not to make any mistakes. All right, lady papers, please. Okay, that looks like you. Natasha. Natasha Shevchuk, that's a strange name. Okay, but you are from, you're 55 kilograms, 173 centimeters tall, date of birth, the same as on your other thing, it expires in the future. Okay, let's just double check the regional info of Arstotzka. Altan district, that's the district there. And then that is an issuing city. Everything looks good here. Glory to Arstotzka. Thank you for your service. Okay, we're starting out okay. Easy one. Arstotzkan citizen, just a couple of things. Papers, please. Death to Arstotzka. This is a bomb! Uh, you want the bomb? Take the bomb! Oh, ha. What is this amateur shit? Should we evacuate? For that little thing? No, of course not. Just disable it. Open the cover. Give me a bomb. Stupid fucking terrorist. Couldn't even have a display. What should you do now? This is the poorest bomb I've ever seen. Simple Mind created this. Cut the wires in order. Okay, so one. Two. Three. And four. Okay, all done. Back to work. We should close the checkpoint. Bullshit. We need to earn money today. Give the bomb to me. We'll sell the materials and I'll give you a cut. All right. Well, there you go. That was crazy. The guy just gave me a bomb and then the guard was like, yeah, just disarm it. Just disable it. Okay, sure. All right, well, anyways, back to work, I guess. Okay, this is Bikers in the Future. It's got a mustache, 87 kilograms, 177 tall. Sure, that looks good. Stian Bratil, Stian Bratil, Stian Bratli. That expires in the future. Glorion, male, those numbers match. He's born in the past. Work for six months. Great. Working for statistics, that's about six months. Enter buys and also in the future. That's the right seal. I think that's the right seal. This all looks good. Stian. Again, everything looks pretty good here. I see no issues necessarily. Oh, is he a criminal? No. All right, well, looks good. I saw no problems. Calls no trouble, please. Stian. Okay, whew. No problems with his documents. All right, here's this lady. Engineering, okay, great. Another engineer. 12 weeks, sure. Three months, that's 12 weeks. Working, those numbers match up. Sonia. Porcova, Porcova, Sonia Porcova, Sonia Porcova. Overweight, 79 kilograms, 178. Expires in the future, that looks good. Three months of work, engineering, that's good, give you that. Enterpine is also in the future. Vedor, Kolechia, let's see. Kolechia, Vedor. Looks good. Everything looks good to me, Sonia. Thank you for being an engineer and taking my little thing. I now have no more little cards to give out. Business cards, if you will. I have my business cards right here on my desk. All right, papers please, sir. Wow, you're a weird looking dude. Goatee, okay. This expires tomorrow. Goatee, is that a goatee? What's a goatee again? Yeah, okay, a goatee is when you have just the... No, I don't remember what a goatee is. Is that a goatee? I felt like a goatee had a mustache, too. Whatever. Okay, he's immigrating forever. Those numbers match up. Vasinek Jakub from Skal. May 1983. Entered by forever. Entered by in the future. Expires in the future. Jakub Vasinek. This looks good. Ah, doesn't have a seal. Ha ha. There is no seal on your entry permit, good sir. They probably forgot to give you a seal. I don't think that you should be detained. Everything else looks fine. And your official document, which looks official, just doesn't have a seal. So I don't think you forged it. You probably either got it from a place that wasn't, ooh. Give me the coded documents. Here you go. Hang on, I'm giving them to you. Okay. Only one agent approved. We cannot succeed without your help. When Arstotzka was born, the Order fulfilled same role as today. When tyranny ends, we will disappear again. Sorry, I wanted to help. I feel like you guys are good for the country, but I just forgot. I'm just a little... I forgot, I'm sorry. Okay, he's gonna say for eight weeks. Can't think about that guy. I have to just focus on this. Visiting for eight weeks. Just visiting eight weeks, sure. Yvonne Odins... Uh-huh, your name is spelled different. Aha, this one has a Y and this one has an I. I have multiple names, all right, let's just double check. Expires in the future. Yep, those look all good. It's got two names, perfect. Balding, 897 kilograms, 171 tall. Looks good, that expires in the future. Sure. There you go. Cause no trouble please Ivan. We're good again. No issues so far, no mistakes, but this is not the easiest thing. Wow, you are very mean looking. Okay, 167 centimeters, 54 kilograms. Date of birth is correct. Annie, Bantadari, Genestora District. Map, Arstotzka, Genestora District, and East Grestin. Explorations in the future. 1945, everything looks okay. I don't see any obvious issues, but I feel like somebody's gotta have a problem soon. Okay, we're fine again, no citation. All right, another person here. Immigration from Skal, forever enterprise in the future. Immigrate, those numbers match. Reed, Augustine, sure. Is that the right seal? Docks. Entry permit, yep, that's the right seal. Bobbed hair, 61 kilograms, 173 tall. Expires in 10 days. 1983 expiration, 1947. Looks good. Cause no trouble. Yes! Okay. We got through day 15. We still have the option of moving. We can move down an apartment to a class eight apartment, which is cheaper and gives us a bunch of money from the move. However, we're okay. We still don't need that much money thanks to the easy mode crutch and doing okay with 10, letting 10 people through. We also might get some money for that bomb that we were given today. So I think we're just going to sleep and move on. Okay. Ministries fight over staff. Qualified guards and soldiers... Qualified guards and soldiers in demand. So that's the big news for today, the 8th of December. So the ministries, which is plural, right? There's multiple ministries, fight over staff. So everybody needs workers, right? Staff are workers. We are staffing the... the border, right? We are the staff there. And so qualified guards and soldiers are in demand. Qualified means that you can do the job, right? You have the qualifications, maybe you've been in the army or whatever. So people that are guards, like at our place, or soldiers that can fight are in demand, which means they're really wanted. The ministries want more people, want more staff, want more employees. So here we see consolidation, reassignment at border, still safe with smaller detail? Question mark. So consolidation is when something is made smaller or more compact, right? You consolidate something. And so in the case of like government, it's basically saying we're closing some of these borders and we're doing fewer crossings or whatever, we're making there be fewer places that you can cross the border. And there's also some reassignment, which means that people are being moved around a bit, right? They're reassigned to a different place. And so the question is, are we still safe? Is the country still safe, even though there's a smaller detail? A detail is basically like a guard or people working somewhere. Not detail, like there's a very fine detail or specific thing that you have to notice. That's also a word to describe the people. These are like the special detail, right? The special guard detail. Speaking of which, we see him here as we're walking to work on December 8th. Okay, we have a key now. Interesting. Arstotzka Ministry of Admission Official Bulletin. Inspector, the Ministry of Justice has approved the outer guard detail. There it is, the outer guard detail. That's this guy out here. You are now responsible for controlling trespasser activity. So we have to do the job of controlling trespassers. Trespassers are people that are not allowed to be somewhere, but go there. So somebody who's in the country without being allowed to is a trespasser. The provided key can be used to unlock the tranquilizer gun when an alarm has been raised. So a tranquilizer gun, so a gun, but a tranquilizer doesn't kill you, it just Puts you to sleep, right? So, continued. But we can only get the tranquilizer gun when there's an alarm. Compensation. You will receive a bonus for stopping any trespasser. A smaller bonus is provided for firing on but missing your target. So, if we shoot the target we get a bonus. If we miss, we get a little bonus for trying. So, weapons protocol. Review instructional diagram on the following page. Okay, so we have to learn how to use the weapon, the protocol, the process of using the weapon. When alarm sounds, we grab the key and we drop the key on tumbler to unlock the weapon. That's the tumbler, the part that the lock turns. We select the gun, aim, and fire. So aiming, right, you choose where you go, and is firing. Time is short, act fast, it says. Okay, I'm gonna keep the key up here. I'm gonna keep the criminals over here. Got a lot to think about now, so. Let's just see what happens in this day. Okay, here's the guard. You detained four people, here. And bonus for selling bomb parts all right 15 credits We still get to keep the bonus for detaining. I stopped visiting you here I will drop off money at your home instead every other night, so he's saying that we He is moving To it to the prison. He's not working here anymore He's going out to work somewhere else, but we still get the money, but instead he won't see us here, he's gonna see us at home. Although I think I read the bulletin wrong. There is fewer people. Has appropriated the outer guard detail. So I misread, the Ministry of Justice. So we're the Ministry of Admission, that's where we work. And so they have appropriated, they have taken our guards, right? Now you see there's no guards. That's why I have to have the key, because I need to do the job of those guards and also my job. So I read that wrong. They appropriated, they stole the guards that were helping. That's a lot of extra work for us and no extra pay. How great. All right, hello, lady. That looks like you are a prisoner. I think you are a... Her small head. I'm just gonna... I mean, I have to detain you. I don't have... Anything else, like I can't let you through. They're gonna give me a citation if I let you through. Okay, hello lady. Nora, I plan to work. Okay, short hair, just 14 days. I plan to work? That's not right, you don't have a work documentation. The entry route was done that match up. Apologies, I just passed through. That's suspicious. But whatever. Go Bleska. Is that what the seal looks like? Documents, entry permit, yes it is. Nora Kobleska, got short hair, 71 kilograms, 183 centimeters tall. This expires tomorrow, that's good. Okay, that looks fine. Now this, Nora Kobleska, Those numbers match up. That matches. Enter buys and also in the future. Expiration is in the future. High non is an import. All right, looks okay, Nora. I see no other problems besides you saying that you're going to work, even though you're just passing through. Very suspicious. But whatever. You don't have any documents. Come from medical reason. Your papers are missing, please. Surgery is outlawed in Kolechia. Even so I do not trust the doctors there. Only Arstotzka have skilled surgeons. And that's that news about the spinal stuff. So he needs surgery. He needs to go to the doctor, but he can't get the right papers. Papers, please, sir. All right. This guy, um, that doesn't look like you. That looks different. Why is your appearance different? I had surgery. Okay. I don't know about that. Let's see. Is this okay? That's a weird question to ask. Describe him as he detected. I can't verify your identity. Please let me through, he says. Boy Chuck Matthew. I can't really do anything else. I'm not supposed to let you through. I already let through the guy who needs to go to the doctor, who needs to get surgery. Oh, hey, this guy. How many engineers did you meet? I got four calls. Three were civil engineers. Useless. And mechanics, I told you. Anyway, is okay. Last guy's very sharp. Thanks for the help. Oh, look. Okay. 20 dollarydoos. Thank you, sir. What if I just deny him? But that guy looks familiar. Thank you, Gloria. We have another... Coin, token, or whatever. And we've got a bunch more money. 20 coins is pretty good. Even though we recommended not great engineers for him. Okay, two months just visiting, right? Yep, just come to visit. Okay, start with this one. Expires in the future. Long hair, 51 kilograms, 169 centimeters. Yep, that's right. Okay. Not a very good picture of you, that's too bad. Brenna Raydowska. Brenna Raydowska, great. Numbers match. Two months. Enter by is last month. I'm sorry. You cannot enter with an expired document. But that's the rule. I don't make the rules, I'm just told to follow them. I know it's not great, I know it's not very nice, but I'm just here to follow the rules and not get deported. Okay, you work in fine arts, sir. Three months. Uh-oh, look at this guy coming across. Here we go. This one. What's this one? All right. There we go. Easy does it. We got the trank gun and we knocked the guy out. Which is better than getting killed by the guards, I guess. So, wow. We got 20 for the sharpshooter bonus, 45 dollars for bribes today. And we made an okay on our salary. We got another 20 from the easy mode crutch, so we've got plenty of money right now. So, we're actually doing okay. We're all right, but the country is maybe crumbling a little bit, which is a bit of an interesting situation to be in. We're doing okay, but Arstotzka might not be doing so well. but we're gonna have to see what happens next in the next episode because that's all we have for today. I hope that you enjoyed and maybe learned a few new things. If you did, leave me a comment below with what you're enjoying, what you've learned, and I'll see you again in the next episode. Have a good one. Bye.
